Alvin Sterling got its start in the 19th century with manufacturing sterling silver flatware. They started their production in New Jersey, but in 1895 moved their company to New York. They competed with, and were eventually bought by Gorham. This bowl is lightly tarnished and has several small dots of pitting on bowl interior.
