Alvin Sterling Silver Bowl Iris Border in Japanese Aesthetic Style c. 1900
Beautiful sterling silver bowl by Alvin, Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1900. Extremely well executed repousse border of scrolling Iris. Detail and artistry reminiscent of a master Japanese silversmith. I think this is the best depiction of the iris in American silver. Measures 9 inches in diameter, height is about 2 1/4 inches. Weight on my postal scale is 10 1/2 ounces. Marked to the bottom, Sterling, 2564, and the Alvin hallmark. Beautiful estate condition, no dents or dings, no monogram. Typical age related surface scratches. Could use a good cleaning! Do remember that used, vintage or antique items typically show some imperfections or wear, typical of age and usage. Please ask for further details or additional photos if needed. We appreciate your feedback upon receipt of your item.
