This antique Alvin overlay flask is a stunning piece of Victorian silverware from the late 19th century. The silver overlay is marked as 999 parts per 1000, which is the standard for pure silver. It greatly exceeds the purity and quality of sterling silver.
That said, the lid/ cap is marked as sterling. The lid is a turn screw top, which still works wonderfully. There is a monogram on one side of the flask.
There are no chips, cracks or repairs. There is no missing silver and no dented silver. No functional damage to the lid/ turn cap. The silver could use polishing and the inner glass a good cleaning.Knowing that many collectors are ardent about an unpolished and original patina, we are saving the polishing decisions for the new owner.
